Bristol County Warrant Records Bristol County Warrant Records

This page explains what our site can and cannot help with, and where to send questions about official Bristol County court business. Most warrant questions belong with the clerk-magistrate who keeps the file or with the sheriff's office that handles custody. The routing below sends each kind of request to the right counter.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, recall or clear a warrant, post bail, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice for anyone. For any of those, contact the court that issued the order or the sheriff's office directly.

Need Official Warrant Information?

Here is where the most common Bristol County questions belong:

  • Whether a warrant exists: contact the clerk-magistrate at the District Court division that holds the case, or the Superior Court clerk for an indictment. The sheriff's office does not confirm active warrants.
  • A default warrant for a missed court date: contact the court that set the case, since that clerk controls the docket and the recall.
  • Resolving or clearing a warrant: talk to a licensed Massachusetts attorney and the issuing court about a recall, a payment, or a surrender.
  • An arrest warrant tied to a charge: the issuing court sets the charge and bail, and a local police department serves the order.
  • Custody or bail after an arrest: contact the Bristol County Sheriff's Office, which runs jail intake and the posted bail windows.

The Bristol County Sheriff's Office is the county custody and civil process office, not a warrant registry. Its main office is at 400 Faunce Corner Road, North Dartmouth, MA 02747, and the main number is 508-995-6400. Public-records requests go to the records access officer at 508-995-1311 ext. 2641 or publicrecords@bcso-ma.org, and the office states that it cannot release criminal offender record information.

Civil process, including civil capias service, is handled at a separate address: Bristol County Sheriff's Office Civil Process Division, 421 Faunce Corner Road, North Dartmouth, MA 02747, 508-992-6631. The division serves civil paper and does not decide the underlying case.

For a court question, start with the division named on the paper. The four District Court counters in the county are:

  • Attleboro District Court: 88 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA 02703, 508-222-5900, criminal extension 390
  • Fall River District Court: 186 South Main Street, 2nd Floor, Fall River, MA 02721, 508-491-3200, criminal line 508-491-3225

  • Taunton District Court: 40 Broadway, Taunton, MA 02780, 508-977-6000

Superior Court criminal matters are heard in Taunton at 9 Court Street, 508-823-6588, and in Fall River at 186 South Main Street, 508-491-3300. Probate and Family counters sit in Taunton, Fall River, and New Bedford, and the juvenile courts follow their own confidentiality rules.
